Panels

Assembling the Planter Box
 
You will be sent a pallet of panels, upper and lower rails, benches, etc., depending on your order. assemblybox1
assemblybox2 Step 3 place the upper rail on the upper edge of the panels, secure with tie-down.  Make sure the bottom edge of the panels are tight against the lower rail.

Step 2 set the panels on the lower rail in their proper place, follow the drawing sent to you carefully.

Step 1 lay the lower rail on the ground or the floor, position it exactly where you want it.


Filling the Planter Box
 
Outdoors:
  • Line your assembled planter box with a weed barrier or silt fabric. This will allow water to drain while containing the soil.

  • Fill the bottom foot or so with gravel, or washed sand

  • Tamp the gravel or sand so it is compacted

  • Place a layer of silt fabric on top of the gravel

  • Fill the planter with approximately 8 inches of mixed topsoil, it should be light so it can drain here is a good top soil recipe: 1/3 sand, 1/3 topsoil, 1/6 compost, 1/6 peat moss

  • Plant, spread ground cover, water thoroughly

Indoors:

  • Line your assembled planter box with a pond liner (heavy rubber, or visqueen)

  • Fill with 6 inches of gravel, tamp

  • Fill the planter box with mixed topsoil, it should be light so it can drain here is a good top soil recipe: 1/3 sand, 1/3 topsoil, 1/6 compost, 1/6 peat most

  • Plant, spread ground cover, water thoroughly

Water:

  • Use foam to create the bottom of the pond. Cut and stack layers of Styrofoam in the bottom of the planter box, these will determine the depth of the water in the planter box.

  • Line the planter box with a flexible pond liner. The top edge of the liner should trimmed and tucked under the upper rail.

  • Fill the planter box with water, plants, fish, pump, filter, fountain, etc..

Benches:

  • The benches will come assembled and will simply need to be mounted to the planter box after it is assembled and before it is filled.

  • The benches are attached using carriage bolts, washers and nuts

  • Simply drill holes in the panels using a carbide drill bit and secure the benches using the
    hardware provided.
